Join Manatee Lagoon’s Manatee Masters and an expert speaker for a lecture to learn about a new topic each month! Advance registration is recommended, although not required. This helps Manatee Lagoon with tracking the number of visitors we receive and plan for seating.

This month: Save the Manatee Club’s Manatee Research and Multimedia Specialist Cora Berchem will take a deep dive into the world of manatees, giving listeners a better understanding of the species’ habitat, anatomy and diet, as well as various threats that they face in today’s world. She will also explain how researchers can tell hundreds of manatees apart, and will invite guests to participate in an interactive activity to become manatee researchers themselves. In addition, guests will learn about different ways to help protect manatees, including supporting organizations like Save the Manatee Club.

Due to the potential for inclement weather conditions on Saturday, Feb. 1, Manatee Lagoon’s annual ManateeFest event is being postponed until Sunday, Feb. 2, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Due to this change, we will now be hosting the Sunday lecture featuring Save the Manatee Club’s Cora Berchem during the ManateeFest event. The lecture, “A Deep Dive into the World of Manatee Research,” will still take place at 2 p.m., but will be held at the main stage located under the solar pavilion on the south end of the property.

Parking and admission to Manatee Lagoon during ManateeFest is free. Please note, Manatee Lagoon’s main parking lot is closed for the event, so visitors must park in the overflow parking lot located directly across the street from our main lot, or in the additional event parking lot on Broadway Ave., in which a free shuttle will be available to transport visitors to the Manatee Lagoon center. Please click here to view our event map and to view the locations of both parking lots.

In addition to the regularly scheduled Sunday lecture featuring Cora Bercham, ManateeFest will also feature a lecture tent with various environmental speakers throughout the day. Thank you for your understanding and we apologize for any inconvenience.
